This summer, the incoming 5th grade class is reading Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli!
Summer Assignment:
1. While reading, students should circle words they don't know AND write in the definition in the margin.
2. While reading, students should write quick notes in the margin. These notes can be anything they think or feel about the book/story. It can also be a question. The notes should be short, and do not have to be in complete sentences! However, please watch handwriting!
3. Students may use BRIGHT colors to make their notes, but pen or pencil is fine!
4. Bring copy of book, with annotations (defined words and notes) with them on the first day of school! While there is not an exact number of annotations needed, it should be clear that their observations were thoughtful!
